Year One 17x8 SSII

I wanna thank all you good Olds people on the forum here for the Year One wheel suggestion. I got them on the car to see how they look and it's very nice!

The 455 is with Mark Remmel, so the stance is nose high and I didn't get any full car pics. However, I am so looking forward to getting the drivetrain back in and getting it out for glamour shots.
Thanks all!

Ugh. Those wheels suck.

Ok, no they don't. Just kidding. I would like to see the entire overall car with those wheels, but I can wait. As good as those wheels look, the only thing IMO that could make them look a tad better would be if they had a "rounded step" in the rim with the centers just a hair smaller to closer mimic the trim-ring-less wheel of that era. But maybe not.

They look great!

Thanks! I'll go ahead and get some pics of the side of the car from the front even though it's nose high.

I have seen them on a couple of cars and they look good. But for me the ss11 look the best.

Those look awesome! As I said when I suggested these in your other thread, I prefer the exclusively Olds SSII/SSIII look compared to the SSI/Magnum style used by Chevy, Buick, Ford and Dodge. The SSI wheels are nice looking, which is probably why ever other manufacturer used them, but the SSII/SSIII scream Oldsmobile.

They look great, Joe! Did you have a hard time finding tires?

Funny that you call the '88 a "20th anniversary". I'm trying to do a 10th anniversary 78. 😁

Yes Joel, thanks a bunch for the help in the other thread!

Hey Bruce, not too bad, there are a lot of choices in 17" nowadays. I wanted some 255/50-17 for 27" tall and the 50 aspect ratio was a little thin on MFR choices. However, Nitto has some nice ones. I went with their NT555 G2 in 255/50ZR17. Nice footprint, great performance tread pattern and looks great on the car.

The 20th Anniversary is an actual thing since I got the full 20th Anniversary kit that Hurst Performance offered in 1988 for turning a 1988 Cutlass Supreme Classic into a 1988 20th Anniversary H/O. I just have to finish the emblems and the exterior on that car is done. I'll post some pics I took at dusk the other night in another thread in the H/O Vehicle Lineup sub-forum here.

Interesting, I knew about the body kit, but didn't realize it was an H/O package (or just forgot).
I'm going to say it: switch wheels 😎

Haha! I knew that was coming. Funny, both sets of wheels are 17x8. I have 245 width on the silver car (Centerlines) and the 255 on the black car (SSII). I am going to do gold accents on the Centerlines with a gold pinstripe around the circumference like the '85-'87 442. Maybe that will do it?
