Changing the Rim/Barrell of a Wheel

Changing the Rim/Barrell of a Wheel
Hi,
First some of my definitions about steel wheels.
1. A wheel is made of two parts, the hub and the rim.
2. The hub is the center section of the wheel, where the holes are that go over the studs.
3. The rim, or barrell, is the outer part that the tire mounts to.
So when someone says they have a SSII 14x7, to me it means the hub is SSII style and the barrell is 14x7.
I put this info out there solely so i can clearly state my question/comment,.
Here we go...
I remember shops that could disconnect the hub from the barrell and then use the original hub with a different barrell blank.
In other words they would take your SSII 14x7 and change it to a SSII 15x10.and set the backspacing to what ever you wantef.
I don't know if anyone is also familiar with this.
I cant seem to find any shops that do this type of work nowadays.
Does anyone know any place that does this?
Or a place that sells the barrell blanks?
Thanks

The real problem is that the SSII/III wheels use an oddball barrel with a 12.25" inside diameter. This is unusual for 15" wheels but is due to the fact that Olds used the same center disc on both 14" and 15" SSII/III wheels. I'm still looking for a source for those barrels.

Thanks the leads and info.
I appreciste it.
I didn't know about the sizing oddballness.
I think some places welded spacers on each of the hub tabs, maybe that was to fit a more common standard barrell.

I'm not 100% familiar with the SSII/SSIII wheel applications but I assume this INCLUDES the chrome 15x7 wheels that came on the G-Body cars? (ie they also have the oddball 12.25" inside diameter center disc) ?
Thanks again

Yes, all of them use the same diameter center disc stamping
