'72 Supreme wheel covers, are they shaded?
As can probably be seen from the pic, this wheel cover has a dull appearance in the flats between the radial ribs. Close examination fails to reveal whether this is just baked-on dirt/brake dust/etc., or some kind of degraded finish (in addition to the dirt). All four wheel covers are about the same. Is this area supposed to be shiny, like the rim, or sort of a shade of gray?
Also, what is a good paint for touching up the black lines?
Thanks!

I looked the set that I saved from my '73 Supreme that I bought in 1977, that area is a dull silver color which could be replicated by spraying with Krylon Dull Aluminum #1403. Mine are a dingey color, but that would be from age and previous road use, which would tend to discolor them. Go to a hobby store and get some paint pens, look for one with a narrow tip that would fit where you need to paint, as in the ring around the center rocket.
