Correct tail light bulb type for a 1949
In an effort to get brighter tail lights, I’m hoping to trade out my stock tail light bulbs on my 1949 Olds 88. I’m still using the 6v negative ground system. I found a source for them, but I’m not sure what “base” my stock lamps use. Anyone know or is it time for me to learn about light bulb sockets?!

If you want them brighter in appearance, be sure to clean and paint the inner tail lamp housings to reflect greater rearward illumination. I like aluminum paint, makes a big difference. I think new clean1154's are plenty bright enough as long as voltage is set to about 7.5v running. Check your shop manual for the maximum voltage spec and set the regulator to that voltage.
