Question Why would my 69 442 slip slightly in first

Why would my 69 442 slip slightly in first. Just doesn't get off the line like I think it should. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks Eddie

Slipping in gear could point to low fluid level. I'm sure you checked that, which leads me to say its an internal problem $. Perhaps its a linkage/shifter cable issue.........check to see that it correctly moves and not stuck inbetween selected ranges.

Have the transmission filter and fluid been replaced lately? A real dirty filter can cause problems like that sometimes I've heard.

I believe it is a transmission rebuild where the technician replaces all of the "soft" parts in the transmission. This would include gaskets, seals, o-rings, and hopefully fiber AND steel clutches and bands. This would be pretty standard for an automatic transmission since it hopefully doesn't need any "hard" parts (i.e. pump, sun and planetary gear set, output shaft, etc.)
