3-speed conversion: column to floor

Hey all: My car is a bit of an odd duck, so I'm not sure if this is plausible. I have a 3-speed MANUAL transmission, column mounted ("3 on the tree"). I want to move the shifter to the floor. I've looked through the Hurst website, and can't find any information on which shifter will work with my car, because...

-I have a 231 V6
-I have a bench seat
-The car is a '77 Cutlass
-I only want to change the shifter, not the whole transmission
-I don't know which transmission I have (how do I find out?)

It seems like this should be a pretty simple job once I get the hole punched in the floor, but what then?

Your car should have a Saginaw three speed. Hurst makes shifters for that trans. You may need to buy one of their optional sticks to clear the bench. Your car may be one of the last "three on the tree" cars build by GM, however.
