Trans Swap - Future Planning Question

Trans Swap - Future Planning Question
I have a 67 Cutlass, 330, 2 barrel and ST-300 trans. I am looking to further my education as to which direction I'll eventually go.
I know that there are BOP TH-350's, is that the same for either the 200R4 or 700R4? Or do you buy a regular GM one and convert/adapt the bell housing to fit the Olds?

Most 200-4R are either BOP or universal pattern.
700 are Chevy-only bolt pattern.
Both have "shortcomings" in stock form but the aftermarket has improved them a lot.
Neither may be particularly easy to find now.
I think for overall ease of swap the 200-4R is a better choice. It has good gear ratio spread (700 has a really WIDE spread between 1st and 2nd), bolts right up to a 330 and is easy to make the converter lockup function. The TV cable and bracket are not hard to find for a QuadraJet-equipped engine but IDK what you'd have to do to get it to work with a 2-barrel.
On either, you might get into some weirdness with the shifter detent plate going from D L to D321 especially on a column shift. I think detent plates are available for floor shifters.

To clarify a little, most 200-4R transmission cases are unisex. Only very early ones came as BOP-only. You'll have a tough time finding one of these.
The 700R4 comes in both Chevy and 60 deg metric bolt patterns, the latter used with the 60 deg Chevy V6 engine family in F-body and S10 applications. The Series III Buick 3800 blocks also came with that bolt pattern and used this trans in the fourth gen F-body cars. You'll want the traditional Chevy pattern bell to use an adapter.

BTO offers a variety of TV cable adapter kits for many different carbs. These are the adjustable variety that uses a cable cam that is attached to the throttle shaft. Your new carb may already come w/ a TV cable attachment feature, in that case you're already set.
