Leaking gasket

I am having a hard time getting the sump pan gasket on a TH400
leak free.I did straighten the pan before installing it,but I had a bad
feeling about this. The front part of the pan did not press very hard on the gasket. The bolts are far apart in this area too.
Wonder if this original pan is worth fiddeling with?
If I am replacing it ,what replacement pan do you recomend?

This is OK. Normally I would suggest a used one. Since you are across the pond, I might suggest this one from a quick search.

You might check RockAuto as well.

Should be stiffer, by far. What if you were to use some sort of sealant on the gasket? I'd say Permatex Aviation #3H or perhaps Form-A-Gasket #2 non-hardening would do the trick.

NOT SILICONE = RTV = The Right Stuff etc.

Get a Lube Locker gasket. I have one on my th400. No sealer needed and they are reusable. No mess and no leaks.

Have you checked how flat the pan gasket surface is on a sheet of glass?.

Roger.

Lube Locker gasket a $30 !! has NO REVIEWS. Not one person is happy enough or pissed enough to leave a review?

Amazon.com: Lube Locker Turbo 400 TH400 Transmission Gasket - Made in USA: Automotive Amazon.com: Lube Locker Turbo 400 TH400 Transmission Gasket - Made in USA: Automotive

"Lube LockerŽ gaskets are designed with a steel core that is rubber coated and have Lube Locker's signature full perimeter elastomer beading on both sides. The result is a gasket that will not split or extrude during installation and has superior torque retention. There is no set up time because installation is dry with no sealant needed!"

Sounds great if you do a lot of pan removal. Then again if you do your trans pan once every 5-10 years like most folks, a $3 tube of Form-A-Gasket seems like a good alternative.
