Floor Shifter ???

Floor Shifter ???
I have a 69 Cutlass with a 455 and a TH400 trans. I currently have a column shifter and am considering installing a console with a floor shifter. I believe the 69's would have had a TH350 trans (I may be wrong) and wonder if there will be any issue installing the floor shifter onto the TH400? I also have a tilt steering column and wonder if there is an easy remedy to replace the section where the shifter used to be or does that involve a whole new steering column?
thanks,
Steve W.

The factory console shifters are two speed or three speed, doesn’t matter if the three speed is TH350 or Th400 as long as it is a three speed shifter. I know for the non tilt columns you can change the shifter bowl to one without shifter lever. I don’t see any after a quick glance for the tilt columns. The other thing you will want to do is change your speedo to one with out the shift pattern, or you could disassemble the speedo and paint over the letters.

They have reproduced the lower bowl for the floor shift tilt columns, parts place lists them for $79 You can also buy just the speedo face plate for the floor shift cars, it's $39. You'll also need a new lever & associated parts for the side of the trans. All the parts are reproduced.

Another option for the column is using one from a 73-77 A body. It’s a direct bolt in. I used one from a 75 Cutlass in my 69 with zero modifications.
Some of the later columns have the headlight dimmer switch on the turn signal lever. If that’s something your interested in using, make sure to get the jumper harness that connects the column dimmer switch to the connector that went to the floor dimmer.
