Block off modulator vacuum supply for higher shift points?
I was driving my '66 88 yesterday, it was shifting higher so I stopped and looked under the hood and found that the vaccum line to to the trans modulator had cracked and came unhooked. On the way back to my garage to replace the line I decided to play with the higher shift points a little. I gunned it from a stop sign and when the car shifted from first to second it chirpped the tires. This got me thinking about putting in a EGR vacuum solenoid in the line to the modulator, wired to a toggle switch in the cab so I can raise shift points when I please. My question is: Will running without the vacuum modulator working hurt anything? Will it cause any damage?
