69 cutlass clutch and shifter issue
I got the clutch installed yesterday and got the linkage adjusted. I installed new z-bar bushings. The problem is the clutch will not release untill the last 1/2inch to inch of travel. if i adjust the linkage more i am afraid that the throw out bearing will be riding on the release fingers. It does not seem like the linkage has enough throw. Possibly the wrong z-bar?
Any ideas
The other issue is the shifter. It is a Hurst comp. plus and is sloppy. 2 out of 3 times it will stick in 2nd when shifting to 3rd. I am sure that it will need a rebuild or replaced, but was just wondering if there was a quick fix or a way to tighten it up.
Thanks for the help.

Tight fit
There is at least one shim in there so I would try to add more shims to take out the slack and lube it up; you would have to fabricate a duplicate of the original shim; I believe that you can send the shifter back to Hurst and get it rebuilt. there is a thread in here somewhere about the rebuild...the pivot ball inside the bellhousing is adjustable too, so check that out as well

I found the problem on the clutch issue. I removed the clutch pedal and noticed there was old welds that had been cut off about 1/2" below where the bracket is welded to the pedal. I assume that this bracket had broke off at one time and was welded back on too high on the clutch pedal.
I removed this bracket and rewelded in the original location and problem solved!
I still need to remove the shifter and see if i can tighten it up.
Thanks for the help
