66 Jetaway question

I got a 1966 4-door f85 with the 2 speed jetaway in it. the wires for the detent solenoid and stator inside the transmission are hard as a rock. cracked, and frayed. I think the transmission itself is in good condition and would prefer not to spend too much cash on this project till its fully functioning. any recommendations on repairs or how far I'm gonna need to tear into the transmission for the stator wire. detent wire should be easy considering its out in the open once the pan is dropped. any help would be appreciated. sorry if this is the wrong spot for this question. im new here haha

The insulation on these wires gets hard and cracks over the years. The wires are part of the solenoids, and the switch pitch solenoid is mounted on the back of the pump, so the trans needs to come apart to access it. Correct replacement solenoids are not readily available. On my last TH400 build, I used a length of shrink tubing to cover the cracked insulation on these wires. You have to unpin the terminals from the connector body to get the shrink tubing over the terminal.
