Edelbrock carb on 70 Toro

Has anyone used an Edelbrock carburetor on the stock intake on a 66-70 Toronado? If so, any issues encountered?

You'll need an adapter so the carb will be higher. Do you have the room? I know my 70 was tight for hood clearance but it's been a long time since then and I don't remember how much room there was. Edelbrocks might be wider also with a side fuel inlet so will it fit under the stock air cleaner or are you changing that also?

What kind of adapter would I need? I don't think the orig. air cleaner would be that much of an issue, I have a chrome one I can use.

Are you talking an Edelbrock Q-Jet or the Carter AVS style? The Q-Jet would need no adapter but the other would as it's a square bore carb. The Toro air cleaner is a drop down base type. It hangs low so there may be interference. If your chrome air cleaner has a drop down base then you should be fine.

All I know is, you best paint your car the original Oxford Gray.

I'd recommend you consider this instead of the Edelbrock (Carter AFB). Bolt it right on in place of the Q-jet, no adapters needed and the added bonus of an electric choke.
