If your running an Edelbrock carb, your aircleaner alternatives are limited. I ran into the same issue.

I think they all did. Now that's a very general statement and I'm sure they ALL didn't but I know a lot did. I know someone who cut the bottom out of a toro air cleaner and used it to make a 69 442 air cleaner with a Performer intake so the hood would close (not just heard about it, actually saw it). I can tell you that when I went to use the entire toro air cleaner base it doesn't work because the various indents to clear things like throttle linkage aren't in the correct place. I'm not exactly sure what year toro base I have is but it's a single snorkle and definitely a drop base.

Yes, in general
If I have a carb like yours I can maybe test fit a 66-7 toro base to it. I have a '68 Toro AC somewhere but that would take weeks to find.

The Toros all used air cleaners with the large base and separate lid, like the 68-up RWD cars. I assume this question is in reference to your fabricated 64 air cleaner with the 64-66 style small bottom and large top with the snorkels. You'd need to cut the base out of a Toro air cleaner and weld it into your base to make it work. If you're going that far, just get an aftermarket dropped base. Keep in mind that the dropped base with your existing top will reduce the inside clearance between the underside of the lid and the air horn on the carb, possibly reducing airflow.
