40 Olds engine

Anyone know of a 12 volt starter that will work in a 40 Olds flathead 6, without the push rod. A few rebuilders think there is one that will work, but can't find them in there books. Thanks

Would it be possible to have the starter motor re-built for 12 volt operation? It may be easier and cheaper. Any shop that rebuilds motors, alternators, generators and such should be able to help you out.

We can have it rebuilt for 12 volts, really don't have to, been using a 6 volt starter on a 53 Merc for years, want to do away with the push type starter, foot activated, want to just turn the key and start it!
