TCS solenoid

TCS solenoid

I have a 71 350 with Performer RPM. I returned my original Q jet on the motor and have vacuam direct from carb to dist advance. Am I causeing problems by not haveing the TCS solenoid in place. Thanks

The TCS switch was a smog-control device which kept vacuum away from the distributor unless the transmission was in high gear (or coincidentally, reverse gear.) You really don't need that.

That's correct. This was an early attempt to control NOX emissions by limiting the vac advance. The TCS system also included a thermo valve to provide full vacuum to the distributor if the engine started to overheat. Again, you can bypass all of this if you don't care about originality.
