SBO in an SBC Cradle?

I'm learning (slowly) but still don't know enough to know whether my SBO 350 would fit in a cradle advertised for a SBC.

The one I'm looking at is similar to this: http://www.dpciwholesale.com/1-000-L...dle-Dolly.html

That link says they are out of stock, to me. Sure sounds cheap enough to me.

No, I don't think it will work as is. But you could modify it slightly to work. That means you would need a welder and some metal stock. Anything could happen with that.

Bottom line, the holes currently there won't match up.

There's one for sale locally NIB

Is it a case of none of the holes would line up, or just the back support due to the different BOP bolt pattern to the bellhousing?

the pics inside will give you an idea of how the olds mounting holes are oriented. Notice they're closer to centre so the rear doesn't need support.

That cradle is only "universal" if the engine is an SBC.

Olds blocks have different motor mount locations and orientation. It won't work. It's a VERY rare "universal" part that fits an Olds. If it says "universal" or "GM engines", that's a code word for "Chevy".

Fantastic, prof! Merci :-)

I'll hold off and build myself a rocket sled when/if I wind up needing one.

Thanks Joe. I knew some mounting points would be different, but wasn't sure just how much different (a lot!).

Thanks for the input all.

I might aim for sometime this weekend Stan. Was thinking about it last weekend but wound up buying a couple VWs out of Nanaimo!

I do have an engine stand...the cradle just looked like a "nice to have" for long term storage. You know...toooollllsssss :-D
