olds 350 to caddy 368 swap
Question for Joe:
I inserted a pic of the bracket in the position closely resembles the way it would sit in the car. You said you were familiar with the bracket, but was not sure if my bracket and the bracket in your manual were the same. I am trying to accomplish a project I wanted to do for some time and having a great difficulty swapping the 368 bb caddy engine for a olds 350 sb motor. The mechanic said he believed the engine to be an olds 350 block...how do I make sure? and also does the pic i included resemble the bracket in your manual? I have the original 368 motor mounts and they do not match up to the bracket...I ordered the anchor 2629 motor mount, comes on the 29-30th.
if I take pictures of the front crossmember of the car which the bracket/motor mounts bolt up to will you be able to tell me how to fabricate something to help me fit the engine to the car? Im trying to see if the manual you have shows you some bolt holes or something I don't have on my crossmember currently. I already spent nearly 1500.00 dollars on this car and it seems stupid to give up now for some motor mount problems. the bracket that is shown does fit the motor but does not match with motor mounts....im thinking fabrication. Thanks so much, happy holidaysSDC10895.jpg

Do you have any better pic's? What car are you putting the OLDS engine in? What year is the car?
can't really tell much about the pic you have, it doesn't look like an OLDS bracket.

its a 1980 cadillac eldorado car that is equipped with a cadillac 368ci big block engine.
the bracket is from a 1983-1984 buick riviera that was equipped with a olds 307 motor.
i believe the 1979-1985 buick rivieras and cadillac eldorados shared the same platform. In fact the 1979 cadillac eldorado came standard with the olds 350. that was the only year it was standard. from 1980-1981 they were optional with the 368 big block as the standard. in 1982 they came with the ht4100 cadillac engine. I do have other pics and can take more...if you look at previous posts... maybe 5-12 posts back you will see another topic regarding this swap i believe the post has the words buick to cadillac engine swap within the topic subject. this has pics in it.
Thanks!

Whoa Man, thats exactly the picture I needed to see! My mechanic would be glad to see this pic...is there any way I can get you to send me a bigger picture of that? also do you have a picture of the engine bay in general, like an overview? its hard to imagine where things go when you never seen it before in a similar car already equipped with it. Anything will help, and if its not possible I appreciate your above reply helps me alot! Thanks!

Thanks you guys! I knew i can count on you. By the way I was just wondering If anyone had any idea of what the V6 engine block bracket looks...is it similar to the V8 block? The reason I ask is because my mechanic, he and I have been working with my 1980 eldorado to try and get the bracket that is shown in the above pics to fit. None of the motor mounts that we bought worked, not even the original one that came with the car. I finally bought some Anchor #2629 mounts that are supposed to be right. Anyway my mechanic thinks we have a V6 bracket rather than a V8 bracket.
Any thoughts on this subject would be helpful. Thanks again you guys, very smart group of people you guys are!
