Distributor Curving

I have a stock distributor that I'm planning to install a pertronix ignitor III in. Is it a good idea to "curve" the distributor. I've been reading about distributor curving to help performance using springs and weights. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great

Thanks,

This is for a 1970 Cutlass Supreme w/ 350

Without a timing light you would just be guessing. But going with the heavier weights and one step lighter springs would help even a stock motor. Listen for the pinging at WOT.

Never ever ever do it that way. There's no gaurantee you'll be able to hear/detect detonation one you reach higher engine speeds.

Borrow or buy a timing light, they're less than the cost of your Pertronix.
