cylinder heads

hello all,
i'm new here and i'm looking for an answer about my left cylinder head. i have a 1971 cutlass holiday coupe with the 350 rocket in it. the question is I have got a number 8 on the left cylinder head and can not find anyhting out about it. if anyone knows what the 8 is please let me know.

No. 8 was used on 73-76 350 motors. Factory hardened seats but BBO-sized 79 cc chambers.

If the engine has a #8 head on one side and a #7 head (which is what a 71 350 should have) then the cr on the one bank is a full point higher than the other. 68 cc vs 79 cc chambers. If both heads are #8, then it could be a different engine, or later heads were bolted on.
