benefits from timing on stock motor

Is there any benefit to adding some timing to a stock 71' 350? After finally getting it running perfectly thanks to a new set of points(old set had a hole burnt through them) id like to see what type of performance boost I can get out of the stock motor. I already replaced the diff and gears with a yukon posi and 3.73's and have a shift kit going in shortly.

Heck ya! add 4 degrees right off the bat, then go 2 up until it detonates or the starter drags.
Usually go to the top of the timing tab and lock er down.
