67 Cutlass Throttle Cable!!

Hey Guys,

I have a 67 Cutlass 330. I'm converting my 2 brl cast iron intake to an edelbrock performer and have purchased a quadrajet from Advance Auto rebuilt by National Carbs. My question is do I need to do any modifications to the throttle linkage assemby? I am running the orginal Jetaway auto transmission still. So any other advice would be appreciated since I'm kind of new at this game.

The throttle rod could be different, not sure, but the 4bbl would be wider so the rod may be curved differently. The throttle rod may need to be adjusted to operate the switch pitch converter for the jetaway transmission properly. I think the manual says to check it with the carb idle speed RPM already set as per the recommended hot idle speed, then at the hot idle position when the engine would be at full operating temperature, engine not running, key on, air cleaner off, when the throttle rod is just starting to move from idle position you should hear the solenoid click in the transmission, this will be the converter going to the low stall position, when the throttle rod is then released it should click again as it settles back into the hot idle position, that would be the click for the converter going to the high stall position.

I see. Thanks for that tip I will check the play upon installation and look at my service manual to see what needs to be done to be in sync with the switch pitch. I have the 5/16 fuel sending unit. Would I have to convert the sending unit to a 3/8?

I don't think so, and just changing the pickup without all new 3/8 lines would be worthless anyway.
