1973 Oldsmobile Omega, Rocket 350, Rad overflow
Hey guys,
My car did not come with the rad overflow tank installed, now up here in Vancouver, BC it wasn't a huge problem as the car didn't get hot enough to need it until the Summer time last year where one or two times I had it puke coolant everywhere after it had been parked and shutoff.
Googling has found these nice universal ones but they are kinda pricey and I'm broke as hell at the moment, just getting my life back together and on EI, which runs out at the end of the month and I'm going to be heading back to school soon.

Does anyone know where I can find a cheapo one from another car or something, preferably one that will just fit into the original holes, although I guess to mount a universal one all I need is a drill and some self tapping screws? I'm young and fairly new to working on cars and although this stuff seems mostly common sense I like to be as confident and do as much research as possible before jumping into anything.
Oh and does the overflow need to be mounted in any specific way?
Thanks guys!

All you need is a 2 litre soda bottle and a hose.
Make hole in bottle cap the size of hose.
Push hose in all the way to the bottom.
Connect other end of hose to overflow barb.
Attach bottle to fender so that its top is roughly the same height as the top of the radiator.

Haha that is for sure the redneck way of doing it, dunno why I didn't think of that. The hose is already in place so yeah I guess I just need to drill the cap of a 2 liter bottle and stick it in there.
What would you think is the best way to mount the bottle securely, cable ties/zap straps? I'm sure this will work fine in the meantime until I have a bit of spare cash to buy a nice one haha.

I had one but I tossed it, I parted a 73 a short while ago. if you went to a wrecking yard, any nova, ventura, apollo, omega one should work, or worst case scenario, a cutlass one or something couldnt be that bad to install. but otherwise if you arent concerned about the looks, a bottle and some zip ties always works!
