Maybe someone can verify for sure, but I think your bumper may be the same as a '65 wagon...if so, I could help you out. I bought a rechrome for my vista off e-bay a couple years ago, and wasn't too happy with what I got. I was expecting something mint. It is shiny, but I classify it as "driver quality"...

I dont think the wagon bumper will work because of the reverse light thing and mounting.... Cannot your rear bumper be rechromed?

The 65 wagon bumper only interchanges with the 64 wagon, wagon bumpers don't have gas tank filler notch, the angle of the dangle below the taillights is slightly different, and the brackets are different.

A 64 car bumper will bolt on to a 64 wagon with the car brackets, but the fit is wrong at the V below the taillights and you have a gas tank filler notch with no filler. The plate will cover it though. Just ask me how I know Took me a while to find a decent shape wagon bumper.

Suspicious Reply

I received an e-mail from David Morgan [dmorganspares@gmail.com]stating he has a 64 rear bumper. He stated that he will sell the bumper for 130. A red flag popped up instantly in my head. I asked him for his mailing information and he stated that he lives in the United Kingdom. Another red flag. I asked if he could snap a couple of pics of the bumper and he told me that he is having difficulties with his camera. Well, that’s another red flag. Gentlemen, this sounds like a scam to me. Have any one of you guys heard of the man before?? Is he a member here?? Please post your opinions. BTW, Im still looking for a rear bumper. If anyone have any leads, please let me know.

So what is wrong with your rear bumper? I know my brother has 2 or 3 of them but they would need rechrome and a little straightening...

I purchased the car with no rear bumper. I searched and seached and could not find 1. I purchased a fiberglass rear bumper last year and installed it. Now its time to get the real McCoy. Are they totally trashed??? Can I clean it up for now?? Im not looking for a show quality, pristene item, just something I can slap on and later on down the line I will have it rechomed.

Update

I think I found it. I did a junkyarddog.com search and DVAP called me stating they just got this car in. Bumper looks like driver quality. 550 shipping included!

Well, I've got a dented one I would sell for $100 and suspect others may have core bumpers too. I know Ogden Chrome would straighten and replate it for $425. So for a similar price I think you could get a replated one. John

Agreed. $350 shipped max would be fair for the DVAP bumper in my opinion.

$550??? I sold a whole car with both bumpers on it for $500---the bumper cores aren't worth more than $100 $150. You could probably get a replated one for that kind of money from Tri Cities Plateing in Tenn.

Im not really feeling the $550 bumper myself. Thats cutting into my paint budget! Now, I feel that since this item is pretty rare, my bumper search is comming to the crossroads. I dont want to pay $550 but when I called a Billons and Trillions, They wanted $1200 shipped for a new refinished unit. ! I figured well, $550 for a driver quality item is alot better than $1200! I am still looking and open to more suggestions. Wow! I knew trying to find certain parts for this car was going to be difficult! Well, I guess thats what I signed up for! LOL!

I had Ogden Chrome do a 1965 front bumper for me last summer. The price to straighten, replate, and shipping both ways was $425. So if you pay $100 for a solid core and another $425 to plate it I think you'll be happier than buying a driver quality one from DV or billions and trillions. John

Ok you guys make me work to much----I have this bumper core I think. I went out in my building and went through and found one marked 64 or 65 and I have a 65 and they don't match so I think it is a 64----I could send a pic if interested.
