SS-1 chromies, set of four.

Trying to make some room. These are the LE code wheels, they will
not fit disc brakes. Made in 71 only? They are still on the car, I believe
the codes are on the backside. The caps are crap but the retainers
are nice, $425 + the ride.

I'm Pretty sure that these are 71 only. I don't understand why they won't fit with disk brakes though. Is the caliper bigger on the 68/69 then 70 to 72?

Kev, I believe it was the off-set. They did make this wheel in 69
I think. But the code for them is LY. That one will fit the discs.

On another note, did you hear back from your bud on the nos snap on's?
I have another offer for a swap of one for the other.

LE won't fit disk brakes. LY will fit disk brakes. Both 14 X 6...I believe the LE wheels were made starting in '66 through the '69 model year, although they weren't identified as "LE" until the '69 model year. The LY wheels are somewhat limited production...starting somewhere in the latter part of March 1969 and going to the end of the '69 model year, and used, as I recall, on the '69 model year only.

Works for me, thanks. As far as these wheels go guys, I will get them off,
break the tires away, and scrub them some, and get some new pics.

Adam, Are yours 6" or 7" wide? They don't look very deep. I don't now much about 1969 model year, but the 1971 chrome SSI were 14x7". I had them on my my car before I upgraded to 15":

Hey Ali. I won't know until tomorrow sometime. I will be getting the
tires taken off tomorrow. They have probably been on those
rims for over 20 years. Wonder if the air in them is worth anything?

Small up date guys. Didn't get them back till around dark.
The codes on the inside of the wheels on the outside lip read: M4 8 96 LE.
On the inside middle of rim: 14X6 JK Made in USA LH M48 795C.
Haven't had time to clean them up yet, but not bad with the tires off.

Those are definitely 14X6 SSI wheels, drum brake only (LE), with a date code of September 6, 1968.

I can't believe those aren't long gone-----I sold a set off a 66 for $500+ shipping and they went in 1 day----hard to find and different then the Chev-Buick ones.

I'm another who can't believe these haven't sold yet. I've been watching them.

They would go perfect on my drum brake 71. Just don't have the funds available now.

Thanks guys, they are nice. Looks like they may be taking a trip to Canada.
On a side note, I dug up a couple of the SS-1's with the chrome spokes
and paintable fronts that I will be posting up in another thread.
