72 Spare steel wheel and G78 X 14 tire

Pulled this out of a 72 Cutlass 4 door many years ago hoping to find more of these double pin strip tires, but never did.
Original spare steel wheel, rim code XE with a almost like new General Tire G78X14 double white pin strip tire.
Make offer plus the ride from Ky...
Can deliver to Cincy Nats if prepaid.
More pics available.
Don't have paypal, sorry.
US shipping only.
thanks

Yes, the reading on the rim is M 0 5 on one side of the valve, and 13 XE on the other side of the valve.
Also has a G stamped on the back of the rim, as well as a M1 0.
I tried getting pics but just could not get the focus I needed. Will continue trying and post a pic.
thanks

M1/0 5 -o- 13 XE

M = Motor Wheel Corp.
1 = plant #1 (Lansing, MI)
0 = 1970
5 = May
13 = 13th of month
XE = application

5/13/70 ?? are you sure it was a '72? Cool deal! Just wish it was a Goodyear

The XE rim was a 1970 only rim. Could have been switched at a dealership just to have a spare tire. ?
Is a 14 x 6 Exc. 442 & S.W. Drum Brakes.

Thanks Mike. Actually I was looking at the rim to complete a set of 4 XE rims I have. I though they were used on a couple different years for the olds as well as some chevelle's and pontiac's. I am positive it was standard steel rim on the 68 and 69 Chevelle SS with disc brakes. The 4 XE rims I have are disc brake rims. Not sure what you mean about EXC 442 & SW Drum Brakes. Do you mean exc both the 442 and SW that came with the standard Drum brakes and not those 442 and SW that came with disc brakes?

Kelsey Hayes and Norris Technologies also made this rim in addition to Motor Wheel. There were little differences in the center section depending upon what year the rim was manufactures and who the manufacture was.

Because of the manufacturing date being May of 70, It would have been then shipped to the assembly plant after that date. So I probably went on a late 70; but maybe early 71. Or maybe it went to to a parts distribution warehouse.

Hi Jim
I got that from the assembly manual for the 1970 Cutlass.
The EXC. is Except the 442 and Station Wagon. With Drum Brakes, so it is not that Heavy Duty.
They dropped the XE wheel for 1971 and 1972 but the HF 14x6 for 1970 went for 1971 and 1972 and it was "Except 442 and Station Wagon With Disc Brakes so you could use that for Drum Brakes. Just taking another part number out of the books.
XE #3928297
HF #9791450

Since they are 7 numbers it is for different makes.

Thanks again Mike. I saw those assembly manuals on the Auto History Library site a while ago. But they have shut down the Library part except if you pay for a upgraded membership.

I thought gm started making rims in 69-70 that would fit either drum or disc brake rims for most A body cars.

So what does Exc 442 and SW, disc brakes mean?

I read it to mean the 442 with disc brakes did not use the XE rim
I do not read it to mean that a 442 with drum brakes did not use the XE rim.

I do not read it to mean the XE rim was not used on other A body olds with disc brakes other than the 442 or SW.

It means ALL Oldsmobile "A" body car combinations Except the 442 and Station Wagons.
1970 Station Wagon(HD) standard steel wheel was a 14x6 LR
1971-72 Station Wagon(HD) standard steel wheel was a 14x6 MH
1970-72 442(HD) standard steel wheel was a 14x7 XT made by Motor Wheel.
(Optional)1970-72 442(HD) standard steel wheel was a 14x7 IF made by Norris Technologies.

Most of the XT and IF wheels I have were made by Kelsey Hayes. None were made by Motor Wheel Corp. and I may have one or 2 that were from Norris Tech.
