1970 distributor

Sorry for delay with a few pictures and to all the PM's. I wiill try to get back to all the PM's. Hopfully this can answer the questions. I know what I went thru and paid for my 69 442 W-30 distributor. I know there getting $350 for one off repops. I also was told and read on here these are worth $500 to $800 and sometimes more. I am not trying to over charge anyone, Thats why I asked for reasonable offers before I put it on ebay. Thanks Michael

Is there a difference between the W-30 dist. compared to the Standard 442 dist. Besides the part #.

The 70 W30 automatic distributor is 1111979,and there are only a few dates those were made. The OA8 is one of them, being January 8th,1970. This would have gone in the later half of the W30's built.Basicly from late-January to June 1970.That's a nice piece.

70 W30 distributor

Thanks for all the responces and pm's for my distributor, After reading them and asking around. I am asking $700.00 for the distributor. That seemed to be the fairest price to me to give everyone a chance for it that wants it, since I didn't have or Know a fair price when I posted it. Please understand I ment no disrespect by not answering pm's and this post sooner, I just didn't want to say the wrong price and sound like I was trying to charge to much... I also didn't know the differance in prices of the 4 speed distributors and automatics ones. As you all know it's tuff selling parts to a friend!! LOL Thanks Michael

Michael, your price is fair for that part. I have been looking for a 2036 distributor for a long time and would gladly pay that even though it is a 71 4 speed.

Wow Vader, when I was typing my PM(turtle speed) on Monday you responded, I wasn't taking cuts, I'm way to slow obviously. Tonight I'm sending PM(at least thought I was(like Monday)), and you are in front of me again!! No disrespect intended Vader. I don't think my PMs are going through, probably because of my super sonic typing skills. I guess I'll make my offer public. Micheal, friend, can you go $550 and a NOS set of 442 hood emblems in GM boxes, with retainers for your 69. I'll cover shipping. $700 is tough for me this close to Christmas, with 3 youngsters. Please let me know, in the meantime I'll figure out this PM thing. I do know how to work paypal.
Thanks, Randy

Heck.......I already have an extra 979 distributor that I will need to sell when I get my 2036, but I want to get into the bidding war. How about a rally pack tac and ram air cleaner.........or I am still trying to sell that damn ram air hood in Colorado....ok I am out because I don't really need two 979 distributors because I only have 4 speeds.

Good luck gentleman.........Lee

I was always out on this thread and only in because it was a very interesting display of salesmanship on a rare piece. Once you established the price you showed professionalism by not changing it. If I were to moderate this odd display of salesmanship 72x came pretty late in this game to knock out the early pms of people that still wanted the distributor. The only fair way to sell this piece is to establish who the first buyer was and sell it to that person. Otherwise this will always be a fishy deal not done correctly. Only my opinion..........Lee

That is not necessarily true in this thread. Here Michael posted I have a distributor. Normal sale, I would PM what do you want for it or I will give you X. Michael stated he did not respond to PMs. So there was no opportunity for the "Sorry that is not enough, I want $700...........then the PM OK sold. If I was the first interested buyer I was the first interested buyer and would still stand in that position to be able to say yes or no. This whole thing is too funny and I hope Michael can come out of this without a bit of a black eye.

Good luck guys. Lee

Hi guys,

Sorry to jump in at the last moment to buy the distributor.
I too agree that the process should be followed. Therefore I believe VADER was before me and interested in buying it.....so give him first shot....if he refuses the right to buy then I will still take the distributor. I don't want to step on any toes.

Thanks

Sam

Foiled by Vader again !!?? If "the process should be followed", again I was the first to say "I'll take it" , I'll pay your price (poor little ones). But Vader responded before me. I'll take it if he's out.
Thanks, Randy

I would like to think you would stick to the facts on this forum (since you haven't answered any of my PMs since Monday). Fact: Vader was first to respond publicly on this forum. Fact: I was second to respond publicly on this forum. Fact: I was first to respond publicly on this forum saying "I'll take it", and have stood by that statement the entire time and still do.
BUT BEWARE of the powers of the darkside !!!!
