Evaporator Core

I've got my A/C box off and was going to refresh it up, I noticed that it has an original Harrison 3014078 SAE-AIR-60 Evap Core.

The core looked good, no corrosion, apparent leaks and worked fine before dismantiling the car. Should I have this one tested/repaired or get a new one?

Also since the box is off any reccomendations on the other stuff to replace. I see Classic Auto Air has a resto service for these @450.00 per.
If I replaced the parts individually would this be a deal?

Thanks gentlemen.

This thread has some really good info on AC service;

I just had my evap tested and it tested good. I've heard many do not so it's worth a test before replacing. Are you wanting to convert to 134a or stick with R12? That can make a big difference in your approach.
Here's what I'm doing:
1. Flush evaporator and condenser
2. Replace the reciever/dryer and expansion valve
3. Replace all O-rings
4. Mount the box with new seals and hook it all up.
5. Vacuum and charge with R12 and call it a day.

I'll probably convert it to 134a.

I would have the core cleaned, pressure tested, and and if good, flushed. Then you can reassemble and use the refrigerant of your choice. The evap and exp valve work for either type. Your POA will need to be adjusted for R134, dryer replaced, and the rest of the system flushed. MAW test the condenser and paint it up too. If you plan on using your original compressor, it will need to be drained of oil and possibly flushed out also. I am not even sure it it can be flushed. The original oil in the R12 system is not compatible with 134.

You said the evap worked fine so if the whole AC system is working, I would just recharge it with R12 like Mac mentioned above.

Thanks, So many MAW's! I'll replace the blower motor just for peace of mind, it looks original. I just saw that I have a blower resistor that is pretty scarce, hopefully mine will hold out. The box should clean up nice.

And while pulling that resistor, MAW check the contacts and connector for burning or pitting. Rockauto has the connectors if yours was shot like mine was.
