starfire steering column

starfire steering column

i have 1963 starfire and need to get the steering column rebuilt it is loose and steering wheel wobbles. does anyone know of a good place in the chicago area to handle this

Tilt column? There are four screws in GM tilt columns that are notorious for loosening and causing the wobble. You may have to do some disassembly to get to them but I don't think it would be a difficult repair with common hand tools and a 63 or 64 shop manual. You can try some of the street rod column sources, like IDIDIT or Flaming River, or check with guys in Illinois Valley Olds Club. oldsmobileclub.org, chapters and you should find their contact info.
