heater core flow

Bad rookie question alert!!!.....

More of a confirmation request: it doesn't matter which way coolant flows through the heater core, correct? It's just a heat exchanger, no specific inlet/outlet.

Shouldn't matter, but the hose barbs may be different sizes, depending on the year, and if you look at illustrations in the manual, you can see how they were originally supposed to go.

Thanks Eric. I did notice that they looked like different sizes so my question may be moot. But I appreciate the quick reply.

I would look a lot cleaner if I had the hose from the water pump to the bottom of the core then out the top to the back of the engine, opposite of how it was set-up. We'll see.
