FS: 1934 Packard Model 1100
FOR SALE: 1934 PACKARD MODEL 1100 EIGHT FIVE PASSENGER SEDAN
This is my "other" car. I've owned it for a little over two years, but now it is someone else’s turn. If you are looking for a restored trailer queen this is not it, nor is this a rusty barn find covered in dust and bird poop. This is something that is much harder to find, a very well preserved 81 year old ORIGINAL car that has been garage kept, gently used and properly stored throughout its whole life. While it shows plenty of honest patina from use it looks great, has all its original parts, and remains in reliable running and driving condition with a remarkable documented history all the way back to the original 1933 purchase.
1934 was the last year that all Packards were large “Senior” cars with features such as vacuum assisted brakes, adjustable ride control suspension, and Bijur lubrication systems. The model 1100 was the entry level but this car was ordered with Deluxe options including dual metal covered sidemounts, tire mirrors, trunk rack, wheel trim rings, Goddess mascot, Startix, rare AM radio, high compression head and Handy Kit. The body is rust free and very solid, all doors open and close with one finger pressure. It retains the original factory Packard Blue Poly lacquer which still shines up well, while the fenders have been touched up over the years. The gray wool interior is all original in very good condition and the woodgrained trim is excellent. I have done little to the car other than clean and maintain it but I have added a new Optima battery, cables, and disconnect switch, reproduction oil filter, hood bumpers and check straps. Also included are the original jack, handle, and lug wrench plus some spare parts. Extensive paperwork includes factory invoice, owner’s manual, service card and complete ownership history.
During my ownership I have greatly enjoyed locally driving this car weekly and taking it to shows and cruise-ins, I have put about 800 miles on it in two years. It has just under 73,000 miles, starts and drives reliably and is an attention grabber wherever it goes.

E-mail me at texriviera1@yahoo.com for a very detailed description and fact sheet.
My price is $32,900 and that is firm. The car is located in McKinney, Texas. Please contact me via PM,
E-mail, or phone (214-578-1213) with any questions.

I believe I saw this car at Salado, Tx a few years ago when I stumbled across the Packard club show there.
I won't tell my wife, or she will mortgage the house and come and collect it!.

Thanks for the nice comments. I got more response here in one day than I did on the Packard forum in two weeks! I know that selling this type of car is going to take awhile since the audience is probably pretty small.
I didn't tell the whole story - the reason it is up for sale is that I found another car, a 1967 Plymouth GTX, so something has to go!

Do old Mopars carry a premium price over GM or Ford offerings from the same time?.
I don't mean specific sought after models, but as a brand generally.
Certainly they do in the UK.

As a brand generally I would say no but for awhile the Hemi and 440 muscle cars were at the top of the bubble. They have come way down lately which is the only reason I was able to find one.

It depends on the model Roger, but the short answer is yes. Mainly the 62-65 B bodies and the sought after muscle car body styles. The Imperials and New Yorkers were bringing very good money for a long time but they have come down. This is one of the cases where supply and demand play a part.

Thanks (other) Eric, Supply and demand as always play a part. A while ago over here, when "traditional" V8 rwd American Cars were in reasonably plentiful supply you might have trouble shifting an AMC car. But now there are hardly any left they have caught up in price to almost parity with other Big Three offerings.

Lets just say when I sold my 63 Fury a few years back (click the link on the bottom), I realized a 30% gain on what I paid for it. It was a sweat car... kinda miss it, just didn't have the room anymore.

The biggest drop has been in the muscle cars with original Hemi's. The Cuda's that were in the multimillion dollar range are down to low-mid 6 figures and the more common B-bodies that were in 6 figures are down to mid 5 figures. I feel sorry for anyone that restored one of these at the top of the bubble and kept it too long.

This is why I limited my advertising to forums that hopefully value original cars. But in the end it has to go so who knows...

I hate to say this, but I passed through an antique auto show this weekend.
There were dozens of cars, and the only ones I saw that weren't modified in some way were a 1928-ish Chevy, which was all original, an Opel Kadett, which was so original it had rust holes in it, and a 1934-ish V8 Caddy.
There was a beautifully restored '32-ish Packard phaeton, with a BBC in it. Absolutely vile.
