VIN & Plate Questions
First off here is a pic of my Firewall Plate. What does it mean?????
Also based on what I am reading my VIN doesn't seem to be configured in the way all the VIN breakdown sites say it should. Its only 12 digits and and starts with a 6 instead of a 3.Most places say it should be 13. I was worried that they may have gotten the wrong VIN on the ownership but it matches exactly what is on my Protect-o-plate card.
Any info on this would be most appreciated.

I think there is some confusion as to what numbers are what:
1. Your body tag does *not* directly correspond to your VIV tag (located in the door jamb). The "66-38669" in the year and model designation and the "LAN 31708" in the Fisher body sequence number.
2. Your VIN should be 386696Mxxxxxx.
3. Your POP should have the VIN at the top of the second plate (matching the door jamb tag) and underneath it the LA-31708 Fisher Body number.
If your "ownership" (title?) does not match your VIN, there was an error made in the title somewhere down the line, presuming it is the legitimate title.

Since the VIN on the ownership(Title) matches the 12 digit number on the bottom of my POP I am assuming it got screwed up somewhere. I'm just wondering if its even worth trying to get them to correct it. Who knows how many hoops I would have to jump through to get that done.

Okay, that is a problem. There is nothing on your car for the BMV to validate the VIN on your title to. I don't know how Canadian BMV handles that, but in the US, that definitely is a problem. I mean no VIN tag is a problem regardless of what the VIN is on the title.
The data plate could be gone, no problem. It has nothing to do with the VIN or VIN tag.

Thanks Kurt. I am sure Craig will read this when he gets back and will provide the info you were asking about. He's away on business so I am sure that's why he hasn't responded already.
