My 1st Olds: Semi-Survivor 1957 88 Sedan
I picked this up for fun from a from a colleague who was liquidating his father-in-law's estate. This was the father-in-law's parents car. 33,800 miles, original glass and paint except for passenger side as seen.
No notable rust perforation. Normal dings and scratches. The car came with extra sheetmetal, all in excellent restorable condition: passenger doors, several fenders, wheel well liners, and a still-in-wrapping rear bumper, all 3 pieces and perfect. Also much stainless trim, hubcaps, radio, etc. Haven't sorted through it yet.
Future? Unless someone offers me a pile of cash (and this is NOT a for-sale post) my current thoughts are to work from tank to engine to get things cleaned up and ready to start. Once it runs, I figure a full brake system overhaul, then reattach the fender and have the passenger side pieces cleaned up and painted to match...the rest of the paint stays. Maybe some paintless dent removal on the driver's side doors. Then, will probably Waxoyl the undercarriage, get some decent rubber on it, plop some carpet in, and take it for sunny Sunday drives and cruise-ins.
Being that it's a four-door, I reckon I'll have to have a fedora, cardigan, and pipe to complete the theme.
