Hey from NY

Hello from NY,
I have an old beat up '74 Cutlass Supreme that my aunt gave me. She was the original owner. It has rusted away a bit. I will get photos up when i get it back from the shop. I was going to whack the roof off and use it as an open "roadster" for the summer, (this would be the third car i did this to), but i am now thinking to just get it reliable, and run it like that. Anyway, thats about it.
Joe

Welcome

Welcome aboard

I'd think twice about "wacking the roof off" as it will compromise the structural integrity of the car.

Welcome to our site! How cool is that - you have a one owner car! Don't be whacking her roof!! She's still a Cutlass. Do you have any interest in fixing her up or no? Lots of info on here that would help you!

Welcome, yup one of the years that did not hold up well to the elements of the north. I used to have a '73 Supreme that had a lot of metal work done to it due to rust, and that was 30 years ago. (Michigan car...& rust).

Yeah, you get a bit of body flex. I did it to a 4 door '76 Olds 98, and a 4-door '76 Chrysler New Yorker a few years back. it was great with all that room and no top. It was funny at traffic lights, people would pull up next to me and say "wow, they didn't make many of those" and i would say "they didn't make any, i cut the roof off myself" i had a guy in a boatyard make me a canvas top with snaps.
I did get a slight body flex upon acceleration, but not too much. i ran both cars for a few seasons, and sold both to dudes who wanted the motors. They were rustbuckets to start with, but a quick bondo and paint job made them passable. I was going to cut the top on this one, but i saw a photo of a black one on ebay and the lines looked so good, i will probably keep the roof on and shoot it black after welding on scrap sheetmetal over the gaping holes on the fenders.

Yep, not to far away from me, I'm in Holbrook. Are you going to the Olds show on 5/2 in Merrick?
