Hello! On the hunt: 1954 Holiday 88 Coupe
Hello everyone. My wife and I both have been Oldsmobile people since our early 20's. She had a '69 4-4-2, and I had a '69 F-85. She eventually wants another 4-4-2. I however, am going a different direction. I recently was reminded of my parents first brand new car. A 1954 Oldsmobile Holiday 88 Coupe (at least to the best of my Uncle's recollection). It was sold from a dealership in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I'm interested in tracking it down. I'll post a separate thread regarding my hunt.

The 2 door hardtop in 54 was either an 88 or a Super 88. The Holiday came out in 1955 and was a 4 door hardtop. Are you going to look for the actual car your folks had. I would say the chances of winning the lottery are better than finding that particular car. Good luck in your search though.

Oh, well good to know. I was basing it on what my uncle told me about the car. I guess I need to do a little more investigation on that front. He was specific that it was a coupe, so it must have been a Super 88 then.
And yes, I am looking for the actual car they owned. A couple family members are helping to look through old documents of my parents to see if we can locate the VIN, or any other information. Thanks.

I think this is a noble quest but one of futility. Unless something very revealing shows up in the documents your relative may have I think your chances of finding that particular car are slim to none.
My advise would be to build a clone just like your parents once owned, a much easier and doable task. 54 Oldsmobile's are not plentiful but they do show up from time to time and can be had for a small amount of treasure. In my opinion it is ill advised to fall in love with a object or task that can't love you back. Save that for the mortals in your life. The best o luck in your search.... Tedd
