'71 442 W30 Pix

OK, I'm a newbie, I did ask some forum questions over the last week and got valuable answers for which I'm thankful. I have this '71 W30 442 in pristine condition. I just wanted to share some pix with you guys. I'm preparing to sell it. It is a California car, and I am the second fortunate owner, since '83 when I bought it from original owner, who was my boss at work. The car has always been garaged, and has about 130k miles on it. Thanks for visiting.

Looks pretty nice. I like the color combo and I see some nice features like AC, cruise control, bumper guards, and power (front drum?) brakes.

Forgive me but what color is that? Doesn't look like a '71 color. And have the stripes been redone?

Yes, good eyes, correct, that is not an original ’71 color.A year after I bought the car, in ’84 I had it repainted. The original color was a slightly paler blue with darker blue stripes that were hard to see.Being young at the time, and the car had nicks, door dings etc., I repainted it the metallic sky blue with corvette white stripes. The car is all original, all complete, and has every available factory option except the 442 steering wheel and rally wheels. The original owner, Jerry (who was a practical minded engineer) who was my boss at the time in southern California, told me he wanted functional options when he bought it.So, it has everything but the steering wheel and rally wheels. I have steel wheels and have the original “sleeper” hubcaps. I intend to paint the wheels same color as car and put the moons back on. The car is currently for sale if anyone is interested.Cheers.

Do you have a photo in as-bought condition?

Why do you think it has drum brakes because of the small master cyl. ?

Sorry, no pix of original paint. I can only tell you the blue was a paler shade, and it had steel wheels with the small moon olds hubcaps. Hupcaps I still have. Thanks. Gene

I'm not sure I understand, it has power disc brakes in the front, drum in the rear. Master cylinder is same size as original. More details please?
Thanks,
Gene

Hey Gene, welcome to the site! That's a good lookin' car ya got there! Love the color combo with white interior. Buckets/console? Auto or 4-speed? Any interior or dash pics?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you might want to clean-up the engine bay a little, if you haven't done so already. Nothing crazy but at least get a lot of the dust off of there with some damp cloths. Such a beautiful car with a dirty engine bay will have potential buyers thinking it wasn't cared-for too much under there, where I'm sure it's not the case. Just my $0.02.

If you have it for sale formally (Craigslist, eBay or elsewhere online), try to post a link to the ad on here. Better yet, set up your own ad in the "cars for sale" section of this site.

Good luck with sale!!
