Barn find 1970 Cutlass Restore

Here are the first pics of the Cutlass being restored, the Goalis to have it done to show at good guys in Colorado this June 8, all parts for the resto are on hand and ready, now all it takes is time.

The Cutlass was a 100% Stock factory correct car, all original parts, shocks, plugs, wires, hoses etc, floor matts.. it was all there, I documented as much as poissible to assure it goes back together as close to original as possibe.

Original White Top, Wire wheel hubcaps and a cloth interior
Restored, Dk blue top, Rally wheels, and a vynl interior

Astro blue , medium blue interior, is the final color selection to match the original.

Looks like it has a new blue roof. Are you keeping that color or going back to stock white? Should be a stunning looking car when it's done. Isn't it nice not to have to work around AC?

Dk Blue Top

Yes the top is going to be DK Blue, i had a new Convert top put on to surprise my wife for her birthday this year (The car was her gift) I found the rallys and the put them on real quick also.

I really debated keeping the white top and trying to redo the cloth interior, but it was more important to me to try to duplicate the czar she had in High school so Dk blu top it is.

Besides there other cutlass in my town is dk blue with a white top and no sence confusig people

No worries

Nope

I have doen a bodys for a quite a few years and they are all the same so far.

Brake line off first
Shocks second
Squeeze out the springs by hand by jacking up the oposite side of the spring you want to take out
upper arms first
lower arms
then it is out.

Going back in is simaler
Lower arms first Jack it up to get the uppers to fit
Then the brake line
Then the Springs
then the shocks

Oh and having your wife work the jack helps tons as it is a pursuasion game to get it back in.
