1 year to the day...Grandson and I project
1 Year ago my grandson, Ben and I started a ground up, "on frame" restoration of my 68 Cutlass. I think we got a lot done in one year. We replaced, refurbished and or modified just about every nut and bolt and obviously all else. Ben was instrumental in choosing colors and what things to buy. I know many of you frown upon painting ( most of what you see is powder coated )things anything other than factory colors. But we think it is turning out nice and looks pretty cool.
Just for fun, if anyone wants to guess the spend thus far, I do not know the answer, we can add up all the receipts I have saved and provide a total. I know we are both curious.

I have gone through something similar, but without for example the disc-brake conversion and powdercoating and I have about 5500$ (it's a rough estimate as well ) into it so far (had to spend a lot more on shipping though).
Without knowing what you have exactly done and how much the powdercoating and everything costs where you live, my guess are 5000$.
I'm curious about the result, too

Great job, There is no price you can put on being able to do a project like yours with your grand son Ben. The time spent together is the reward and in the end you both have a beautifully restores auto that I'm sure will be in the family for years to come. So what is the price , PRICELESS !

Wow! That car will POP with the colorful suspension and frame parts being red. From your avatar I am guessing that the car is black with the red stripe. Interesting combination of colors. Not sure either if all that stuff was powder coated or painted but if you did paint it I know that there are enamels out there that are durable enough. Good work.

Thanks
for the compliments, actually just about everything is brand new and came "red".......Ben and I enjoyed reading the replies. Today we are removing the bench seat and working on the restoration of some buckets.

I'm also a fan of painting. Nothing wrong with it either. Besides you can say you did it yourself instead of having it sent out.
Congrats on a big project. Out of curiosity is the car going to be black with red accents? That would be sweet!
