Recovering Head Rest

72 Olds Buckets. Recovering Headrest. Appears original cover is glued to padding. Take it off or install new cover over old cover? Don't want to distroy the foam shape getting old cover off.

Carefully cut off the old 'piping' to avoid bulges, clean the old surface so you can use a little glue, too!

Good idea on cutting the old piping. I don't think these were glued on though.

When ready to reapply? wrap the headrest foam in Saran wrap or a thin plastic bag (like for produce at the supermarket). It will make pulling the new material over the foam a lot easier and won't shred any old foam. Learned that from this forum last year!

If you run into any significant problems? One of our members "RAMBOW" does resto upholstery and is a great guy for sharing his knowledge on this stuff. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...rs/rambow.html
