Power bucket control location on seat side

Power bucket control location on seat side
I've redone the power bucket seat in my 68 cutlass. The used plastic side trim pieces I cleaned up were from a non-power seat. Can any of you provide the approximate location where I would cut the hole to mount the seat adjustment lever? Thanks.

Look on the back side and see if there are any guide lines moulded in for the power seat switch cutout. That's what they did with the consoles rather than have separate part #s for automatic, dual/gate and stick. I kinda doubt GM had two different parts for power and non-power seat side trim.
Other than that I can't help. My Toro with Strato-Bench seat uses the same trim pieces but it has a 6-way seat.

Pwr switch
Also, on the metal frame of the seat, is a rectangular hole where the switch & plug sits...this will give you an idea of where to place the round hole for the switch.. you could use a hole saw, but it would need to be dressed after the cut or you could use a Greenlee punch for a nice clean incision... I just checked several of my seat trims and none of them have any guide lines, so they must have used a jig at the factory...mount the switch into the seat and then guesstimate where the hole should be and make a tiny hole to see how correct you are and then continue from there...two small holes for the attatching screws also...

I don't know if this will help, but here's a few pictures of one that I have. It looks like the greater challange will be getting the screw holes in the correct place. As Yellowstatue said you can start with a small hole for the control ****. John

I also compared this to the 6 way controls on a full sized and they're in a different location. Let me know if there's anything else here that could help you. John

Thanks for the info and effort. But now I'm confused. Not on the location because you have given me some good ideas and a reference. I'm confused on my power seat control. My control has a chrome face, making me think it installs on the outside of the seat trim. Not on the inside. I've enclosed a picture for your comments. Is this correct for a 68 cutlass?

Too shiney
X2-- The only thing that shows is the knobby and the shiney ring!!! I haven't been into mine lately but I think there are J-nuts fitted to the seat frame for the screws to grab (philips- just like in the picture)
