Interior colors for my '69 convertible

Interior colors for my '69 convertible
Guys, I've got a couple of questions about my Cutlass S's interior.
It was originally Aztec gold with gold interior and white top.
I don't really like the Aztec gold, but I'm thinking I can live with it and may wanna keep the car "original".
The thing I can't deal with is having gold interior, especially if it looks like some of the seats I've seen pictures of that are kind of a gold metal flake.
They remind me of those "Genie shoes" that my aunts use to wear in the 70's.
The interior is trashed and will have to be completely changed anyway..
So, my questions are:
1. Was that really the "gold" color that was stock in '69? (code 934)
If you happen to have any pictures of a rebuilt interior using Legendary's gold seat covers please post them. I really wanna see what they produce.
(Having a heck of a time finding any decent interior pictures on the net with this color, period, Legendary or not.)
2. If I order from Legendary can I get them to build me a set of '69 covers/door panels/back panels etc out of saddle or some other color that wasn't "stock" for 69?
I wouldn't mind having the saddle or sienna interior from other years.
Don't want black in a west Texas summer, don't want white with the aztec gold, so I'm really limited with that year's colors.
(Why the heck did they put a white top on a gold on gold car in the first place??? Looks like crap to me, but that's another topic for another day.)
Thanks for any input or opinions and especially pics!
Edit to add:
Oh yeah, second option is to forget original colors and go with "ocean turquoise" for the exterior and white interior w/ black carpet / trim. (This is really the way I'm leaning, but thought I'd get some input about the stock colors first.)

Yeah, I figured that was one option, but a 2" square of vinyl really won't give me as much of an idea of what the interior should look like as a picture would.
I was really hoping someone had a car redone in gold with some pic's handy.
Most of the gold interiors that I've been able to find have been the original covers and I really can't tell if the seats are just faded or if they came with a more of a "brownish" color.

I had a 69 S just like yours, about 30 years ago, and a 69 442, black with red interior, black top.
I thought the 442 was much better looking, classier and just looked more powerful. If you have A/C, any color should be ok. (I lived in San Angelo for a while so I know how hot it gets.) I was not fond of the Gold interior or paint. I was going to change it but sold it when I got the 442. I think the gold interior is more like a saddle too if I remember right.
If you are going to redo it anyways, you have a blank canvas to do it the way you want it. Just my opinion.

Whew!
I was hoping that was something custom that they did for someone and not what came from the factory.
And yeah Higgins, the AC will be nice, but it's a weekend toy and a convertible to boot, the top won't be up much and I remember climbing into an old jeep with black vinyl interior when I was a young'un and scorching the tail-feathers. Black is not an option cause my tail-feathers are much more tender now!
Thanks guys, I probably will treat it as a blank canvas.
Now that I've thought about a saddle interior though, I'm thinking aegean aqua with a light brown interior....
I may never order parts for this thing, I've completely changed my colors 3 times in the last week!

Hosskix, if you want to really get confused as to color combinations to choose from, click on "Gallery" at the very top of the page, then choose "Cutlass" and view all the photos of members cars.
Both of my 69's were convertibles too, I'm a wuss when it comes to heat so when it was really hot, top up and A/C on. In Michigan, thats only about 2 weeks in July.

That's EXACTLY what I was needing, Thanks so much weasel!!!
Pretty sweet looking interior, shouldn't be as hot as black, shouldn't show dirt as much as white and looks nothing like a Genie shoe!!
Plus, I can stay "original" on the interior trim in case that matters to some future owner.
I'm still not too sure about the gold exterior with a white top, I think it looks cool as all get out with the black top, especially with black stripes like weasels car...guess I could keep it all factory except the top and addition of W42 stripes...
Thanks again!

From what I've learned gold exterior was available with white, black or brown. My car has a brown top and it looks pretty good I think. I'll send you a picture after it gets painted with the new top if you like. The interior is all original and gold. Weasels looks like a very close match to what mine looks like.

Thanks guys, I'd love to see more pictures!
Lee, that does look pretty good, but the gold looks lighter in the pic than the aztec gold does to me, I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
Maybe it's just because it's in direct sunlight.
Here's another pic I found that the guy says is aztec/white color combo:
That color just looks a lot darker than yours does, and IMHO doesn't look as good with the white top.
Which, come to think of it, it looks darker than weasels car too, maybe it's not aztec gold??
I know that's what my color code is and it looks closer to the faded out paint in my avatar, hmmm.

Exterior Aztec Gold pics from 69olds.com The first 2 pics are old scanned pics. I know you're looking for interior. That site has a lot of good info if you haven't checked it out already

I do like the gold exterior and interior. White top looks okay or you can go with a buckskin colored one like mine. Black would look nice, too.
Don't worry about this. In a texas summer, you can burn your buns on white.
My Ford has tan coulored seats and I had burned my legs so many times I feel like I have calluses there now.
That is why i do not drive it in the summer anymore (not to mention it was never equipped with A/C.)
Visit my interior makeover thread to see the Dark saddle interior - lots of pics there...

Trust me Rob, I've been there many times.
Your interior makeover is what got me thinking about the saddle interior.
I even photo shopped your seats into a aegean aqua vert to see what it might look like. ;-)

I'll shoot more than when it's complete, Rob has inspired me with his detailed rehab thread, I think that's going to be a LOT of help while doing mine!
Here's a copy of the photoshop I did on another members aqua convertible, I added Rob's saddle interior just to see what it would look like.
(Like I said, just quick and dirty, I only wanted to see how the colors worked together!)
I kind of like it!

I cut the tops off the picture of your seats that you took when they were at the upholstery shop.
I think it looks pretty cool, but I'm waiting to hear back from Legendary to see if they can make a 69 interior in any color or what, I'm also asking them for samples of other browns.
I love your saddle interior but I want to play around with some lighter browns.
Bye the way, thanks for that detailed write up of your interior re-do.
That baby is a wealth of knowledge for research!
