69 Cutlass Convertible shoulder belt

I have a '69 Cutlass which my wife and I drive on long trips and would like to add shoulder belts. I see they were an option for '69 but doubt anyone ordered them since everyone was upset about seat belt laws. Anyone have an idea where they anchored the belt and where I might locate some.

Thanks

I've never seen shoulder belts in a 69 convert. Does the option catalog give you any ideas? My 69 H/O has them, but the hardtops have easy mounting points.

I don't know where you can find the belts or the holders they hang on, but I've got some pictures of how the belts are anchored and of the buckle holders that are attached to the interior side pieces by the rear seat. My '69 convertible has bucket seats and a console. The male receiver pieces for the shoulder belts are attached in the same position as the buckle (female) for the seat belts on each side. Hope the pictures help and I hope you can find the pieces you need. They are kind of a pain in the hiney! I've got a '70 GTO hardtop with buckles and receivers all over the place and all I've ever used is the seat belt. I don't think the shoulder belt pieces have been out of their holders since the car was new. However, I understand that, if you are stopped and the car is equipped with shoulder belts and you are not using them, you can be cited for that violation. It's never happened and I hope it doesn't happen in the future!

Randy, Thanks for the pics. Got an email from Seatbelt Solutions and now the anchor points make sense. Appreciate you taking time to send pictures. Terry

The Fisher Body Manual shows how the optional shoulder belts attach. They were optional as early as the 1966 model year.
