Ok my 1969 Buddies as you can see the console door is aluminum, I'm guessing it had a black adhesive material on it probably grained like the rest of the console.
Is this stuff available anywhere? or should I just paint it?
I would try a shop that does auto interiors, they may have a suitable material that they could sell you. Take a look at any crafts/hobby stores in your area that may also have the material. Furniture upholstery shops may also. I don't believe that there is a replacement on the market for it through the normal resto places.
Ok so I stripped my console down to repaint and saw the console door was fabbed by a PO, so I looked everywhere Fusick, Supercars etc etc nobody makes this but on Ebay I found this has anyone bought one of these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-...item5d2e5c3f08
My '69 console door has a slight crack in it and the source you listed on eBay is the only replacement I could find either. Looks nice on the computer, and the price isn't bad. If you go this route, I am curious as to the quality of the repro so please let us know how it turns out.
OK, here it is installed on my console.
It works and fits great, the only thing was the customer service at that company wasn't the greatest but they were the only one with a repro console door.
