The H/OCA Nationals was at Lansing this year, with activities at the Grattan Raceway some 75 miles to the NW in Grattan, the R E Olds museum in Lansing, and the hotel itself, the Crowne Plaza in West Lansing, which is an IHG Hotel. I drove some 400 miles each way in my 72 with only minor problems.
There was the standard meet and greet Thursday night and hangout. Friday morning we all convoyed to Grattan and got all 50 some Hurst/Olds cars on the track for pictures. We then did a slow lap for familiarization, had lunch, and got the 27 72s on the field for more pictures. We did laps, then got all cars on. I did some ten laps and got off to wait for slower folks to leave, but there was an antifreeze leak that stopped it all and we went back to the hotel.
The R E Olds Museum is neat and should be seen when you are in the area.
We had a good car show Saturday with 33 72s in attendance for their 50th anniversary, Linda Vaughan was there signing things and talking to people. We had the business meeting and auction and Saturday dinner and presentations like normal, and everyone packed up to leave Sunday AM. I about got drowned on the way home but made it.
Question on the gold 66 W30 in the REOTM- Did those cars come with widened deep dish wheels? I've never heard anything about it if they did. Makes that car look... "business-like". 😈

No,all 442's and W30's in 66 had 14x6 wheels.Tom preferred those wide units I suppose.
I was at the museum getting soaked as security guard on Friday and Saturday evening 5-9 at the gate. Only got a few pictures at the hotel, because people we already loaded into trailers or already hit the road.

Awesome pictures, thanks for sharing. I saw a '72 Vista w/ the Pace-Car livery just like this on a trailer heading north on I-69 to the (what was still known then as the ACD) auction in Auburn, IN. I don't recall if it had the "Medical Director" markings on it or not. But it kind of blew my mind, as just a week or so earlier I had learned of the '72 H/O Vistas that were built for track duty. Cool car.

Any body else think that these asking prices are 300% too high? I was there talking to the person representing the '68 H/O and W-30 listing who wasn't the owner. The only good thing with the H/O was the "D" head cores, in my option the rest was junk. You can't save them all.
THanx for posting these photos, nice to see 3 white/gold 79's at one time, anywhere. Mine would have made a 4th but now that I'm in South Carolina for good, my chances of making one of these show has diminished.
My restorer trailered my H/O up from Texas. Due to circumstances, I drove up separately and met him at the host hotel Thursday.
This enabled me to visit family in Munster, IN on the way to and from the meet.
At Grattan, the restorer and I took turns driving the course. Was interesting (at least to me), before the last curve approaching the straightaway, I saw a turtle making its way across the the track. This was toward the end of the time when the H/OCA group had driven the track.
I don't know how that turtle made it without getting hit.
I was impressed with the improvements to the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum. The last time I was there was during the Centennial in 1997.
My brother, sister, brother-in-law, niece and her husband visited the event on Saturday.
I had a great time. I'm not sure I'll be able to attend an H/OCA event in the future, but I have fond memories of it and the 2019 Indy meet as well.

BTW, I believe I have a photo of your car individually on the track at Gratten. Will get with you separately.
