1969 H/O @ Mecum - Feedback Request
https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0122-48...ile-hurstolds/
Hello All,
This vehicle was briefly discussed prior in a different thread, but wanted to reach out again to see if anyone has feedback based on photos and/or first hand knowledge of this vehicle. I am registered to bid remotely, and just looking for additional feedback on this particular vehicle before I bid on Saturday (1/15). The only thing that jumps out at me based on the photos is the stance seems to be "off" especially side to side (i.e., driver's side of car is lower than passenger side). Or at least that's how it appears to my eyes when looking at the picture of the rear of the car. If that were an "easy fix", then I would think it would have been taken care of, but then again my knowledge is limited. Thus, I look to ya'll who know a heck of a lot more than me! Thanks in advance! PS, my goal is to find a high end mostly original driver ... does not need to be a benchmark vehicle.

Having had a documented A/C version for 25 years, I miss it!
it is a nice looking car. If it is documented from HO club and on the list by vin, then at least it is real.
I would want to see the paperwork though.
I would also like pics showing it retains the VIN block, HO tagged and VIN trans, SH axle tag(it’s ac car so no steeper than 3:23 gears) and HO cars had own codes from rest of line, original intake pics with part number, D heads with appropriate date, they had the 29251 carb so not hard to find.
I would want close ups of underside and inside qtrs to show zero rust issues.
HO cars have so many little things they are a pain to show because everyone thinks theirs is the correct way so get ready for that. Some early ones did not have the white under hood painted where the hood blanket would go, the front hood tongue had some that carried the black stripe, some didn’t…the rocker stripe angled at wheel wells..on and on…..
if you can get the documents showing real, go from there on value and what you want to do with it. The more it retains original parts vs period correct replacements helps..
ultimately just know what you are buying for sure so know surprises. Value is what you set for what you want in the car.
I drove mine because I can’t stand hanger queens….just me…
if I had the extra money I would buy another, one of my favorite cars!!
I hope it works out…good luck!!!!
oh and as I said in previous post, not sure where this 1 of 173 number came from…that’s news to me if they have hard documentation on how many were AC cars.
its always been a WOM of about 1/3 of the cars but I have never seen official documents with hard numbers.
looks like that one has AC, steering wheel and rally pack as options…

Thanks everyone ... appreciate the feedback on the Mecum vehicle, and the idea of reaching out to rr69ho (PM sent). Additional comments and ideas welcome ... keep them coming!

My opinion about auctions is that people overpay because they really have no clue what they are purchasing. They like the look the color blah blah. Originality? Doesn't seem to be the driving force behind throwing Stupid Money at cars that aren't worth the prices being paid. Different world these days.

I didn't purchase the joe spag's '69 H/O @ Mecum. I was in discussion with Ron about his nice '69, but was waiting on a quote from a local shop for some work I wanted done to the car. They didn't get me the quote fast enough and the vehicle is now sold. I snoozed and I lost. Congrats on the sale Ron and thanks again for spending the time on the phone with both myself and my father. You are a true gentleman, and I really enjoyed chatting with you.

In all fairness Terry, the person who bought the car had called me over a week ago before you and was fairly local to me. Because of the recent weather conditions, he had made arrangements to come and see the car the first decent weekend we were both available with his son. I did call the # you initially called me on to tell you, but no answer and I didn't leave a message. I wanted to call you and tell you over the phone.
I enjoyed talking with you & your father about the car and sorry it didn't work out.
P.S. it went for more then we discussed.

You sure you want to ask?
Someone had listed a correct J on one of the Olds Facebook pages a few months ago for $10,000 (may have been this same one) although I see JLawrence has his listed for $12,000.
