1969 H/O engine compartment

Now that the cat is put away for the winter thought I'd get the Engine Compartment straightened up
Am I right to assume all the Black Metal in the engine compartment From the Factory is painted Gloss Black? And the firewall is Flat Black? Please correct or advise

Thanks

The underhood panels are about 60% gloss.

Most folks would be surprised that what looks like black is really grayish in color.

I think very few car parts are actually flat black; they're just seen that way since they're dusty on top of satin.

NO not all blacks are the same.

The underhood was a black "sheen like" color

Firewall is black primer with a kinda similar sheen but NOT the same i have found satin black close

to me the brackets looked more like Semi_Gloss Black..

Heat stove pipe looked like flat black high temp to me..

Radiator took a special black paint that can dissipate heat

Some items were Black Phosphate coated .. like clips.. bolts...

other components had various levels of black the came from different suppliers and also batch differences

Frame was 80% Gloss black..

Years ago, Musclecar magazine ran articles on various underhood colors for the engine compartment.

Look at all the ones listed in here to get some idea....
