Transmission stamps question

Olds didn't start stamping Vin's on motors til 68.
Question: Would this hold true for muncie trans also?
Would they only have an assm. code prior to 68?
No Vin's Before 68?

Olds did not stamp VIN derivatives on the block or trans until the 1968 model year. Prior years had an engine and trans unit number that could be cross-referenced to the VIN if you had the Protect-O-Plate.
