Exhaust system

Looking to replace the exhaust on my 65 442. The pipes are all original. The head pipes are in decent shape with the exception of a few holes. The drivers tailpipe has no holes and is solid. Passenger tailpipe has a couple of holes but otherwise solid. Both tailpipes have the original chambered ends but missing stainless tip. My dilemma is try to repair pipes or replace whole exhaust system. Is it possible to repair the holes? Thank you.

repairs are easy. You can buy slightly bigger id. pipe cut it in half and carefully weld the halved sections to the are that needs repair on the outside of the pipe if you dont want to cut it and section it. I have done the half patches on customer vehicles when they could not afford to replace exhaust and needed a patch job. I would do sections if you have lengthy soft spots. exhaust tubing is cheap and it comes down to how handy you can be what tools you have and creative you wanna get. you could spend 80 bucks and fix what you have or spend 350 easily for a quality new one.

Going to have the same job on mine. Glasspacks are blown out and tailpipe back to the tips are holy. What cost can I expect for a very good B grade replacement?

Buy a stock replacement system and weld your tailpipe chambered ends onto them.

Keep those chambered ends, they are not replaceable. Gardner exhaust has a kit that has the chambered tail pipes not oe but as close as you can find its not cheap 900-1200 bucks

I have considered Gardner. If nothing else works out I will probably bite the bullit. Does anyone reproduce the stainless rolled tip for the tips of the chambered tailpipes?

Has anyone had any dealings with The Parts Place exhaust systems. I was on the phone this morning with one of their customer service reps. Wasn't very informative.

If you can locate someone with some talent, he can bend some new pipes out of stainless tubing and weld anything you want joined. Some years back I had some made at $100 per pipe. They look good and they'll probably outlast you.
