Books

which books should I buy to make it easier on working on my 69 post sedan cutlass? I want to get a nice small library to help me learn more about her and how to fix everything, which at this point IS everything. what books do you recommend I get?

A 1969 Cutlass/442 Assembly Manual (truly called a PIM, or Product Information Manual), a 1969 Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual, and a 1969 Fisher Body Manual. All are available through the various Oldsmobile parts supply companies (Fusick, Year One, etc.) and you can find them on ebay. Get the hard copy versions and not the cd versions - when you are working on your car, you can always have the books next to you, whereas with the cd you always have to go back to the computer. I'm not a mechanic but I found these books invaluable in restoring my '68 4-4-2 to nearly concourse quality and moving towards a strong driver-quality restoration on my '69 4-4-2.

Buy original used manuals, not copies. Some of the guys here sell them from time to time and Ebay usually has them.

I have a 69 Chassis Service Manual I am selling for $65, includes shipping cost in US.... Shop around, there may be cheaper ones out there...

I keep a bible, a thesaurus, a 1965 edition of Encylcopedia Britannica, and an Archie and Jughead comic book I bought back in 1970. It's amazing what can come in handy when you least expect it.

The CD can also be handy. I print out pages, make notes, highlight etc. and take them in the garage. Actually, it is all I use, mine is from Dave Graham literature. But, nothing ever beats the original factory books.
