1966 Olds horn button removal
How do I safely remove the horn button from the optional walnut rimmed steering wheel? It looks like the spring has weakened and the button is apparently contacting ground when I go over a bump in the road. It appears someone has disconnected it from working, I guess, because of that problem.

Does this one look like the regular deluxe wheel, but have the walnut areas at the top & bottom?
If so i know another 66 that has the same wheel too.. must be pretty rare.
If so, you just push in on the center and twist. It has little tabs that lock it in place. Twist a 1/4 turn (or less) and it will pop out. Then remove the screws from the back side of the wheel to release the spoke chrome. That also holds the two buttons on.
Side note... it could also be a bent/broken turnsignal arm causing your horn. When my son was 2, i had let him play in the drivers seat and he broke the turnsignal arm- its metal and as soon as it touched the metal of the steering column shroud the horn started going off!
Just a thought.
